-first let's talk about what the word organic means. It means that there are no added chemicals or pesticides used in the production of the product.
- MoonPads are made with organic cotton and wood pulp, these materials are grown without the use of pesticides. Pesticides are chemicals that farmers use to kill pests on their crops. If these chemicals kill, oftentimes they will also harm our human body. Additionally, nowadays many non-organic, chemical fertilizers are used to speed up the growth of crops, some of these chemical fertilizers are highly toxic and cause major illness if contact is made with the skin or eyes. We do not believe that using these products is good for the earth, nor our individual health.
-After the cotton and tree pulp which are used for the bulk of the pad are harvested, they must be processed. Moon Pads are not processed with chemicals, not even bleach. Conventional pads are mostly made with man made materials using many chemicals and these cause dioxins to enter the body. If you think about the amount of time a woman spends sitting on pads over the course of her menstruating life, you begin to see why it might be important to use organic materials.
